Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of experienced goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has given the deal his trademark “here we go” confirmation.

Mikel Arteta has been looking to bolster his goalkeeping options following the departure of Neto, who returned to Bournemouth after a season-long loan spell. The Gunners have now turned to Kepa, a player with proven top-flight experience and a solid record across the Premier League.

Kepa, who remains the most expensive goalkeeper in football history following his £72 million move to Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, is expected to provide strong competition for Arsenal’s current number one, David Raya. The Spanish international spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Bournemouth, where he impressed with 35 appearances during a solid campaign.

The move reflects Arteta’s ambition to strengthen key areas of the squad with reliable and experienced players. Kepa’s arrival not only adds depth but also valuable Premier League experience as Arsenal prepare to challenge across multiple fronts next season.

In addition to Kepa, Arsenal are also preparing a £51 million move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who could become the club’s first major signing of the summer under sporting director Andrea Berta.

With key reinforcements arriving early, the Gunners appear well-positioned to build a formidable squad for the upcoming campaign.
