Arsenal out of contract midfielder attract interest from Brazilian side

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho could soon find himself playing in the Brazilian football league.

This comes as recent report claims Brazilian giants Flamengo are considering the chances to sign Jorginho this January transfer window.

The Brazil-born Italian star is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, which means interested clubs are free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with him from January.

So far this season, Jorginho has witnessed limited game time in the Gunners’ team, with manager Mikel Arteta handing him just six Premier League starts.

Despite Declan Rice and Mikel Merino’s injuries this season, Arteta has been reluctant to use the 33-year-old as often as he did last season, when he made 36 appearances in all competitions.

Jorginho was in action for the Gunners in the weekend’s FA Cup loss to Manchester United though, playing 113 minutes before he was taken off over a late injury.

Flamingo are willing to offer him more game time in Brazilian top flight.

Italian journalist Luca Bendoni also claimed Flamengo’s interest in Jorginho is concrete, and they would prefer to sign him in January.

Arsenal are also interested in letting him leave this month rather than lose him for free in the summer.
