Arsenal manager reveals player who was desperate to play against Chelsea
Arsenal have continued their bad start to the season as they were beaten at home by London rivals, Chelsea.
It took the blues just 15 minutes to continue their winning run with Romelu Lukaku scoring on his debut for the men in blue.
Recce James added the second goal before half time and both teams couldn’t find the back of the net in the second half as the game ended 2 goals to nothing.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has now insisted that club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was desperate to play against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea yesterday.
Aubameyang did not start the game against Chelsea having just recovered from COVID-19 but was subbed on in the 61st minute.
Though he failed to spark a comeback, Arteta while speaking to Football.London noted that the Gabon international made a real effort to be able to be on the bench.
According to Arteta, Aubameyang trained one day and he really struggled with the illness that forced him to stay on the for a long, long time.
Arteta added that Aubameyang wanted to be in the squad, he wanted to try and help the team and he did that when he came on during the match.
