Arsenal legend reveals his concerns on Mikel Arteta’s top target this summer
Premier League side, Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal with Brighton & Hove for the signature of Ben White.
Ben White has become Arsenal’s top target ever since the transfer window opened as Mikel Arteta is eager to strengthen his defense.
Arsenal have had two bids rejected by Brighton for Ben White as they plan to let go of their best player for a fee of £50million.
Ben White has three years left on his contract at the AMEX Stadium and this gives Brighton an edge during negotiation with interested club.
There are reports that Arsenal are now willing to pay the £50million transfer fee for White and a deal could be announced anytime soon.
Campbell who played an important role in Arsenal’s success under Arsene Wenger has not insisted that his concern for White is that the transfer fee means that he must be a master of his position if the move is completed.
Speaking with talkSPORT, Campbell stated that White played 36 games for Brighton and at age 23, he’s definitely one for the future.
However, he needs to work out because Arsenal are not in a position to shift out £50million for a player.
Campbell noted that white will definitely have to start if it does happen and the medical is all good and get going.
The former England international added that
it’s a lot of money but in the years ahead, Arsenal see a future, they see someone who can come in and play midfielder, full-back.
He needs to have a situation where at £50m he needs to be a master of his position and that’s what he has to be.
