Arsenal defender suggested for Chelsea

Arsenal have seen two of their seven signings these summer, Noni Madueke and Kepa joined them Chelsea this summer transfer window.

The Gunners and the Blues have a cordial history of signing players from each other and a recent report has linked Arsenal defender Ben White to Chelsea.

Sport journalist Simon Phillips via Substack, claimed that one of Chelsea’s board members mentioned White’s name over the weekend as a central defender to consider targeting.

Phillips, however, added that a White’s transfer to Chelsea will not happen as manager Mikel Arteta’s side would not sell him.

The defender, who moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2021, has emerged as key player in the Gunners’ defence.

White is a versatile defender, who can play right-back or centre-half and would have been a major boost for the Blues if they had signed him.

Recall that White was on Chelsea’s radar five years ago as the Blues were one of the clubs interested in signing him in the January transfer window in 2020.

At the time, White, who was signed to Brighton was on loan with Leeds United in the Championship.

Since joining the Gunners, White has played a major role in Chelsea’s defence.
