Arsenal Consider Move for Liverpool Target

Arsenal are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez this summer, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad for another Premier League title challenge.

According to BBC Sport journalist Sami Mokbel, the Gunners have held internal discussions regarding a move for the World Cup-winning Argentine. However, the striker’s valuation—believed to be around £68 million—could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential deal.

Alvarez has impressed since arriving at Manchester City from River Plate in 2022. Though often playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland, the 24-year-old has made a significant impact, collecting six major trophies in just two seasons, including back-to-back Premier League titles and the Champions League.

His blend of technical skill, pressing ability, and versatility across the forward line makes him an appealing option for Arteta, who is in search of a reliable No.9 to take Arsenal to the next level. While RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres have been heavily linked, Alvarez’s proven track record and top-flight experience offer a different dimension.

Liverpool are also reportedly monitoring Alvarez’s situation, adding further competition should Manchester City be open to negotiations. At this stage, City are not actively looking to sell the forward, but Arsenal are keeping close tabs, aware that a marquee striker signing could define their 2025/26 campaign.
