Another manager turns down Liverpool job after Alonso
Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is the latest coach to ruled out the possibility of replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool at the end of the season.
Recall that Bayern Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso had previously ruled out interest in taking up Klopp’s job at Anifield.
Amorim in a statement stressed he is ‘very happy’ at Sporting, adding that he has a contract.
According to him, he is only focused on their games to come this season, despite links with replacing Klopp as Liverpool’s head coach.
Speaking about reports linking him with the Liverpool job, the 39-year-old said in his post-match interview after his side’s win at Estrela on Friday night: “Liverpool? Right now, I’m just focused on Sporting.
“I am very proud to be Sporting’s manager. I have a contract, and even more importantly than that, I’m very happy here. My focus is on beating Benfica.”
