Alexander Isak Must Take Initiative for Potential Arsenal Move, Says Former Player

Alexander Isak has emerged as a key transfer target for Arsenal this summer, but any move will depend on the Newcastle United striker’s own decision to leave St James’ Park.

The Swedish international has attracted strong interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool, with Mikel Arteta’s side prioritising the signing of a top-class centre forward. However, former Newcastle midfielder Geremi believes that unless Isak actively expresses a desire to depart, a transfer is unlikely to materialise.

“Any move will have to be driven by the player himself,” Geremi said. “Newcastle won’t be in a rush to sell one of their best players, so it’s down to Isak to indicate he wants a new challenge.”

Arsenal have monitored Isak for some time, impressed by his technical ability, mobility, and goal-scoring record. The Gunners see him as a strong candidate to lead the line as they aim to build on recent progress under Arteta.

Liverpool are also reportedly in the market for a striker, planning for long-term changes in attack, and view Isak as a viable option.

Despite the growing interest, Newcastle remain in a strong position to keep the 24-year-old, who still has multiple years left on his contract. Unless Isak pushes for a move, Arsenal may need to look elsewhere in their pursuit of a marquee striker before the new season.
