England’s loss to Spain in the Euro 24 has seen football fans and pundits calling for the sack of Gareth Southgate as the coach of the Three Lions.

Former football star Alan Shearer in a recent statement recommended Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe as the replacement for Southgate.

Shearer opined that the Newcastle manager is the perfect replacement for Southgate as England manager.

Recall that England lost 2-1 to Spain in the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday.

As of now, Southgate is expected to exit the managerial position of the country’s national team.

Shearer in a statement via The Rest is Football podcast stated that Howe would be a perfect replacement for Southgate.

He said there’s no doubt Howe will be in the bet to become next England manager if Southgate leaves because he’s done a great job at Newcastle.

According to Shearer, Howe plays the type of football England wants.

It is, however, uncertain if Howe or the Magpies will be willing to let their manager leave considering the tremendous job he has done at the club since he took over.

Should Southgate leave, England has other managers they could turn to as replacement if Howe rejects offer to coach the national team.
