Ajax reject Chelsea bid for Hato, tables counter offer

Chelsea have suffered a transfer blow in their bid for Jorell Hato from Dutch side Ajax.

This comes after the Dutch side rejected the Blues’ transfer bid while demanding a £52m transfer fee for Hato.

Chelsea have been linked with moves for the 19-year-old versatile defender, who would be a plus to their backline before the 2025/26 Premier League season starts.

While Hato inform Ajax of his desire to leave this summer, he was left out of their squad that played against Celtic in a pre-season friendly on Thursday.

According to the reports, the Netherlands star has reached a personal agreement with Chelsea, and all that is left is for the Blues to meet Ajax’s transfer fee for Hato.

However, a report via De Telegraaf disclosed that Ajax want more and are targeting a transfer fee between £47.7m and £52m for the defender.

The Blues are said to have made an opening offer of £34.7 million for Hato during their negotiations with Ajax this week.

Chelsea will have to return to the table with a counter offer but it is uncertain if the Blues will be willing to meet Ajax transfer price despite Hato being a young player with future prospects.
