Chelsea remain in the race for new players the summer transfer window following the signing of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

The Blues have been linked with moves for Xavi Simons and are said to have been in contact with Leipzig for the attacker.

Ahead of Simons’ arrival, Chelsea are planning to sell some players to create space for him.

Should Simons finally move to Stamford Bridge, manager Enzo Maresca will have to work out how to give him more game time especially as the Blues already have boast Pedro and Jamie Gittens in their ranks.

Both wingers like to operate from the left, which is the same zones as Simons.

Chelsea manager might consider moving Pedro out to the right to replace Noni Madueke, who moved to Arsenal this summer, and the Leipzig forward would then face less competition for a starting spot.

Simons can also play as a number 10, meaning he could come in as a substitute as attacking midfielder when Chelsea star player Cole Palmer needs to be rested.
