Chelsea turns down signing Nigeria International due to high asking price

Chelsea have not presented a proposal for Lille forward Victor Osimhen, in spite of reports to the contrary, as they are reluctant to meet his asking price.

A week ago, reports in France guaranteed that an anonymous club had submitted a €85 million bid for the player and the suggestion since was that it was the Blues.

That is the value Lille are looking for the Nigerian but Football London insist that the club being referred to was not Chelsea.

Despite the fact that they are in the market for a striker, they are reluctant to fork out that sum for Osimhen.

The 21-year-old has been in better form in Ligue 1 this season, netting multiple times in 25 appearances prior to the division’s shutdown and untimely cancellation.

Chelsea aren’t the only club who have been acknowledged for an interest with Osimhen also being connected to Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

He also scored against Frank Lampard’s men prior this season in a Champions League loss and left the Chelsea manager interested with his good performance.

“Osimhen is extremely impressive and he made life difficult for our centre backs,” Lampard said after his side’s 2-1 win.

“He is both quick and strong. I trust he goes on to have an incredible career.”

Regardless of whether part of that career includes a spell under the Englishman at Stamford Bridge is not yet clear.

Osimhen would be a great addition to Chelsea young talents.
