Chelsea owner speaks on Lampard’s return

Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly in a statement has opened up on Frank Lampard’s return as the club’s manager.

According to Boehly, Lampard’s return to the club is on an interim basis and would last till the end of this season.

He added that Lampard has what it takes to lead the team for the season while the club continue with a thorough process for a permanent head coach.

In a statement on the club’s official website, Boehly said “As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season.

“We want to give ourselves every chance of success and Frank has all of the characteristics and qualities we need to drive us to the finish line.”

Following his appointment, Lampard took charge of training at Chelsea on Thursday and his first game as their interim manager will be an away to Wolves on Saturday.

Then the Blues will return to action in the Champions League next week where they will face Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-final.

Meanwhile, Lampard was sacked as the Blues manager in January 2021 under former club owner Roman Abramovich and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by new owner Todd Boehly for Graham Potter, who was sacked last Sunday.
