Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has identified Timo Werner as a blues player that will suit perfectly Liverpool’s defensive tactics after he put in an impressive performance in their victory at Anfield.
Timo Werner was a constant threat in Chelsea’s victory over Liverpool at Anfield as has a goal disallowed for offside.
His inability to hit the back of the net now means his goalless Premier League run has got to 18 games.
However, Ashley Cole while speaking with Sky Sports stated that Liverpool suited him as Chelsea put balls in behind in a dangerous space and the reds didn’t defend it well enough.
Cole stated that Werner is playing against a high line, he’s been in a rough patch, he’s going to be hungry.
The former Arsenal left-back noted that he like Werner playing off the left and making the clever runs in behind but it was a perfect opportunity to give him some confidence and exploit Liverpool’s weakness and he got his rewards.
He added that any team playing against Werner should have understood his threat so they need to adapt.
Chelsea will return to action on Monday in the Premier League against Everton and will hope to pick all three points vs. the Toffees.
