Chelsea boss tasks young forward to fight for a place in the team

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has tasked young forward Tammy Abraham to fight for a place in the squad after he was left out of Sunday’s squad that faced Manchester United.

Tammy Abraham has been a prolific striker ever since he made his senior year debut with Chelsea under Frank Lampard but he has not been part of Thomas Tuchel’s team in the past few weeks.

Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was given the nod against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United and summer signing Timo Werner was on the bench as a possible replacement.

Though Timo Werner was also not used during the match, Tuchel was questioned about Abraham’s absence and the German tactician urged him to fight for a place.

Tuchel states that this situation is totally natural, Abraham has to do exactly what he does, train well, be in a good mood and accept that he is a striker for Chelsea so this is the highest competition in Europe.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager pinpointed that when you play for Chelsea, it is a difficult decision he have to take and he is very, very happy when he have to take them because it means everybody is on board.

Tuchel noted that this is what everyone sign up for if they are a player for Chelsea, a coach for Chelsea, that these moments arrive.

He added that there is no other answer to it other than to accept it and be there on Monday to fight for his place in the squad and he’s sure Abraham will do it.

Tammy Abraham will be eager to impress Tuchel in training so as to be back in the team.
His contract at Chelsea contract runs until 2023, after the 23-year-old activated an extra year in his existing deal at the back-end of last season.
