Former England star and pundit Casey Stoney has blamed one Man Utd player for the reason behind their defeat to West Ham in Carabao League on Wednesday night.

According to Stoney, the Netherlands international, Donny Van de Beek is to be blamed for the defeat at Old Trafford.

He stressed that Van de Beek was handed a rare chance to start and failed to impress, which leaves many wondering why manager Ole Solskjaer Gunner has refused to let him leave.

Recall that the Dutch footballer joined the Res Devils in the summer of 2019 and has failed to impress at the club since then.

During an analysis on the only goal from the match, Stoney said on Sky Sports: “It’s poor defending, he (van de Beek) has got him in his eyesight. I don’t know why he thinks he’s got to go affect the ball, he just needs to stay with his player.

“He’s been drawn to the ball, he’s had his eyes on the ball, not checked his shoulder, there’s only one ball from the by-line and that’s the cut-back, that’s the danger so you’ve got to stay on your player and realise the danger.”

West Ham got the lone goal thanks to an effort from Manuel Lanzini.
