Why Chelsea’s Noni Madueke’s transfer to Arsenal is a wrong move

The reports linking Chelsea star Noni Madueke to their rivals, Arsenal, has continued to gain attention in the Premier League amid the ongoing summer transfer window.
Former Arsenal star, Paul Merson, recently shared why it was a wrong move for the Gunners.
Merson, who stated that the Chelsea star isn’t clinical in front of goal, added that he’s flabbergasted by the Gunners’ interest in him.
Madueke is joining Arsenal in this summer transfer window after reaching an agreement with the Blues.
Criticising Arsenal’s decision to sign Madueke from Chelsea, Merson stated that the Gunners were spending a lot of money for a player who is not a prolific goalscorer.
“I just don’t see it. It’s a lot of money for a player who isn’t a prolific goalscorer,” Merson said via Sky Sports.
“He’s the sort of player that has a good game here and a good game there, but that’ll be it. The consistency of performance isn’t there,” he added.
Meanwhile, Madueke has reached a personal terms on a five-year deal and is expected to sign for the Gunners for an initial £48m plus £4m in add-ons.
The 23-year-old, who moved to Stamford Bridge from PSV was allowed to leave Chelsea’s Club World Cup camp last week in order to finalise his transfer.
