Why Arsenal failed to beat Manchester City

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in a statement has suggested reasons his side were unable to defeat Manchester City during their recent encounter in the Premier League.

Arteta watched as the Gunners came from a goal down to lead 2-1 at halftime.

The duo of Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhães found the net for the Gunners after Erling Haaland’s early strike.

However, the Gunners were then reduced to 10 men after Leandro Trossard was handed a red card.

The host side manager to score a late stoppage time goal thanks to efforts from John Stones ensuring both teams played 2-2 at Etihad Stadium.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Arteta admitted that the North London club had a very difficult start against the Man City.

Arteta pointed out that Arsenal struggled to control certain spaces and didn’t have enough ability against Pep Guardiola’s men.

“We had a very difficult start. We struggled to control certain spaces; we didn’t have enough ability. We adapted to that context in the best possible way,” Arteta said.

The Gunners manager, however, added that he was so proud of his team as it was a difficult situation against Man City.

Arteta and his team will now turn their attention to their next game against Bolton in the EFL.
