Two Arsenal players named as one of best centre-backs

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher in a recent statement picked his greatest centre-back pairing in Premier League history.

According to Carragher in a tweet via his X handle,  Arsenal duo William Saliba and Gabriel as one of the top-flight’s best partnerships.

The former England defender also included the likes of John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho, and Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

The pundit made this known after Saliba and Gabriel impressive form in Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League 0-0 draw with Italian side Atalanta on Thursday.

He said Arsenal’s Gabriel & Saliba can go alongside some of the greatest defensive partnerships in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Saliba and Gabriel could return in the defence when Arsenal challenged Premier League champions Manchester City this weekend at Etihad Stadium.

The North London club will hope to ensure that Man City drop a point this weekend as they start another race to win a title this season.

As of now, Man City are again leading the table while Arsenal have 11 points in four matches having been held to a draw against Brighton.

This season could make it Arsenal third chance under manager Mikel Arteta to unseat Man City in the Premier League.
