Neville Warns Manchester City Remain Arsenal’s Biggest Title Threat
Gary Neville believes Arsenal have the mentality required to finally end their long wait for a Premier League title, but has warned that Manchester City remain the single biggest obstacle to their ambitions.
Mikel Arteta’s side have spent the past three seasons establishing themselves as consistent title contenders, yet have repeatedly fallen just short. Arsenal finished second in each of the last three campaigns, twice losing out to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and once to Liverpool, creating a narrative that they struggle to finish the job at the highest level.
This season, however, Neville senses a different mindset. The former Manchester United defender insists the Gunners will not “bottle it” again, pointing to their composure and maturity as evidence of growth. Arsenal are set to sit top of the table at Christmas, a position that reflects their strong first half of the campaign and growing belief within the squad.
Despite that, Neville has identified Manchester City as the primary threat, with the reigning champions once again closing in. City trail Arsenal by just two points, and their proven ability to go on decisive runs during the second half of the season continues to command respect across the league.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville highlighted the danger City pose through both personnel and leadership. With Erling Haaland providing a constant goal threat and Guardiola orchestrating from the sidelines, City possess a blend of elite talent and tactical expertise that can overwhelm any rival.
Neville added that Arsenal’s hopes may ultimately hinge on their ability to manage injuries. If Arteta can keep his key players fit and available, Neville believes the Gunners have every chance of withstanding City’s pressure and finally turning sustained promise into championship success
