Man United and Arsenal-Linked Striker Hints at Future Plans
Manchester United and Arsenal may have received a boost in their search for a new striker this summer. Despite having very different seasons, both clubs find themselves in need of attacking reinforcements for the 2024-25 campaign.
Arsenal, who finished as runners-up to Manchester City, had a strong season but needed more firepower, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah combining for just nine Premier League goals.
Meanwhile, Manchester United had their worst-ever Premier League finish, ending in eighth place, and needs a new forward as Anthony Martial departs on a free transfer.
Ajax striker Brian Brobbey, who stayed with the Dutch club despite a poor season, has caught the eye with 22 goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances.
With Ajax finishing fifth in the Eredivisie and only making it to the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds, the club’s financial situation means they might need to sell players.
In a recent interview with NOS Jeugdjournaal, Brobbey admitted he is interested in joining top clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, or Real Madrid. “Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium. A very nice club, but that also applies to Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid,” he said.
Brobbey, who has three years left on his contract, suggested in a Men’s Health interview that he could be worth €80 million (£68.38m) after playing for the Netherlands at Euro 2024. However, given that Mohammed Kudus moved to West Ham United for around £38 million last summer, it’s unlikely any club will meet Brobbey’s self-proclaimed asking price, especially since he has only one cap for the national team.
