Carabao Cup: Arsenal, Man Utd eliminated from tournament

The Carabao Cup returned on Wednesday night as top EPL clubs Arsenal and Man Utd were kicked out of the tournament.

Arsenal on their part suffered a 3-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Gunners defender Ben White headed into his net to give West Ham the lead when they met on Wednesday.

Following White’s goal, the Hammers scored two other goals thanks to efforts from Mohamed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen as they took the game beyond Mikel Arteta’s men.

Martin Odegaard managed to score a consolation goal with a last-minute finish but it was not enough to keep the Gunners in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s Man United were thrashed 3-0 by Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

The duo of Miguel Almiron and Lewis Hall gave the Magpies a two-goal lead in the first half before Joe Willock’s low finish sealed the win as they moved to the next stage of the tournament.
