Arteta speaks on Partey’s future at Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed the club’s midfielder Thomas Partey will remain at Emirate Stadium this summer.
Partey had been tipped to leave Arsenal after the arrival of Declan Rice, who plays exactly in the Ghanaian position.
He had been linked with a move away from Arsenal, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli a possible destination.
Arteta in a press statement ahead of the Gunners friendly match vs Man Utd said the former Atletico Madrid man remains a key part of his plans.
“Without a question of a doubt, Thomas Partey is a super important player for us and for me. I want him to be in the team.
“Every time I spoke to him and every time I have a conversation with him, his will is to stay with us. For me, there’s nothing there at all.
“They [Partey and Rice] can play together and that was in my plans.
“You want to improve the squad and have more quality,” he said.
