Arteta rates Zubimendi’s performance against Newcastle United

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to their new signing Martin Zubimendi’s performance during their friendly match against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Arteta was impressed by Zubimendi’s form, stating that he coped with it with intensity and the physicality of the game.

The manager also described Zubimendi as a player who is smart and one step ahead constantly, as he can read situations, execute at higher speed even if there is no space.

Speaking on the physicality of the game against Newcastle, Areta added:

“I think it’s not a friendly, I think they are a test and I think you have to take this as an opportunity as well to raise the competitive level and there are things that physically obviously we want to achieve but there are things in terms of how we compete, how we understand the position and that willingness to win regardless of what we are playing for and I love the mentality of the team in that sense.”

The Gunners defeated the Magpies in a 3-2 scorelines.

Meanwhile, they will be playing against their neighbours Tottenham Hotspur next and they will hope to maintain their top form during the match.
