Arsenal youngster reveals how Mikel Arteta judged him with two-and-a-half matches
Arsenal youngster William Saliba has opened up on the difficult time he endured under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta.
William Sabila was tipped to be the next biggest thing when he joined Arsenal in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £28million.
However, he was loaned back to Saint-Etienne and eventually linked up with Arsenal this summer and was tipped to be an integral part of the Gunners team.
Sabila, however, failed to impress under the guidance of Mikel Arteta as he couldn’t make a first team appearance before he was being loaned out to Ligue 1 side Nice during the January transfer window.
He has now defy all odds placed on him by impressing in his loan deal with Nice, winning the club’s player of the month for January.
Speaking with RMC Sport, Saliba voiced out his frustrations with Mikel Arteta’s style of management as he noted that it is clear that so much has changed in the last year.
He stated that when he saw that Arteta changed, a lot changed for him too.
According to Saliba, Arteta judged him on two-and-a-half matches and he would have liked for him to play him more but told him he wasn’t ready.
Saliba added that he was waiting for Arteta to give him a chance, but football is like that as when he initially came to Arsenal the league looked very good, so he showed up to training and wanted to train on his own to show the coach he was ready.
