Arsenal reportedly approach Championship side over availability of it’s goalkeeper
Premier League side Arsenal have reportedly approach Championship side West Bromwich Albion over the availability of their goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone.
Arsenal are not just in the transfer market for a midfielder, and the London club are also willing to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
Having been linked with a move for Aaron Ramsdale, who is expected to leave Sheffield United ahead of the new season, the Gunners are yet to make headway in the pursuit.
Arsenal have now identity Johnstone as another candidate if a deal for Ramsdale fail to work out.
Johnstone has been linked with a move away from West Brom following their relegation back to the Championship, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United previously linked.
According to The Athletic, Mikel Arteta’s is willing to have the Englishman in his squad, and Arsenal have approached West Brom to determine his transfer fee during this summer’s transfer window.
Johnstone conceded 74 times in 37 Premier League appearances for West Brom during the 2020-21 campaign, and his contract is set to expire next summer.
