Arsenal Consider Midfield Reinforcement as Partey Future Remains Uncertain

Arsenal are reportedly exploring a move for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoumé as uncertainty grows over the future of Thomas Partey at the club.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international is out of contract next week, and while discussions over a new deal are ongoing, an agreement has yet to be reached.

According to The Athletic, Partey remains open to staying in London but is also weighing offers from other clubs. With no resolution in sight, Arsenal are preparing contingency plans should he depart.

One player believed to be under consideration is 23-year-old Lucien Agoumé. The French youth international impressed last season with Sevilla, making 35 appearances in La Liga. His performances in a struggling side earned praise for his composure, tactical awareness, and defensive reliability — key traits that have drawn comparisons to former Premier League star N’Golo Kanté.

Agoumé played a pivotal role in helping Sevilla steer clear of relegation, contributing one goal and three assists during the campaign. He began his career in France with Sochaux, a club known for developing top-tier talent such as Ibrahima Konaté and Marcus Thuram.

While Arsenal are already close to finalising the signing of another midfielder — widely expected to be Martin Zubimendi — Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta appear keen to ensure the squad remains well-balanced. With Partey’s future unresolved, Agoumé presents an exciting and strategic option for the Gunners as they prepare for the new season.
