Former Arsenal star agrees with Saliba’s red card
William Saliba’s red card during Arsenal’s last outing in the Premier League has remained a topic in the football world.
Former Arsenal star, Emmanuel Petit, is the latest pundit to react to the referee’s decision to send Saliba off.
Petit agreed with the referee’s decision to send off Saliba during their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday.
According to the former Arsenal star, the defender deserved the red card adding that Saliba was at fault.
Petit added that his former side need to do better with the suspensions.
Speaking with Genting Casino, Petit said Arsenal’s red cards were worrying as they can’t handle suspensions.
“When I look at Saliba’s red card, he totally deserved the red card,” he said.
Petit continued by saying it was something that could be very damaging but with the look of Arsenal’s squad, they don’t have enough to handle their suspensions.
“That is still the case and it’s very worrying. Saliba got injured two years ago and the same thing happened, they had no one to replace him and they fell short of the title,” Petit added.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will return to action in the Premier League this weekend when they host Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.
