Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic said England fans booed their team and manager Gareth Southgate because they saw the USA as the underdogs in the ongoing tournament in Qatar.

This comes as the US and England played out a goalless draw during their second group stage game on Friday, a result which English fans were disappointed at.

England won their first match in the World Cup 6-2 against Iran, while the US played 1-1 with Wales.

Pulisic has been impressive at the ongoing world cup as he also won the man of the match during their clash with England.

The Blues winger believes the American side can head into their next game vs Iran with confidence after holding England to a goalless draw.

“I thought it was a really good performance for us,” the American told reporters

“Opposing fans don’t like to see that especially when we’re the quote, unquote, underdogs but I thought we went toe to toe with them and put in a really good performance.
